MORTISE & BIT

Doors engineered to sub-millimeter tolerance.

We pair master-level hand joinery with digital CNC precision. Our heavy-aperture architectural entryways are built from solid heirloom timber to ensure absolute structural stability.

THE METHOD

Precision hand-joinery.

We program our industrial CNC routers to a tenth of a millimeter to carve the internal structural core, then hand-sand every grain transition. Technology does not replace the craftsman; it sharpens his hand.

The result is a perfectly balanced, heavy-aperture door that closes with a silent, satisfying thud and never warps under seasonal drafts.

ENGINEERING

Built for generations.

We reject hollow cores and veneer overlays. Every door leaving our workshop is a solid, heavy-aperture moving wall engineered to withstand extreme drafts.

Draft Seals

Milled to a tenth of a millimeter. Digital fabrication ensures perfect alignment, tight tolerances, and zero warping over time.

Integrated heavy-aperture hardware and multi-point compression gaskets create an airtight, draft-proof seal that stands up to severe coastal weather.

No hollow cores. We use solid oak, walnut, and mahogany all the way to the mortise for maximum density and weight.
